Languor

Wow it has been almost like an eternity since I have last posted on my little corner of the internet - my life has been extremely busy which has lead to these lack of updates. But I have been working on my personal identity for when I leave university (even though I plan on taking a Masters after this degree is finished). My own little logo took me a lot of sketching and manipulating to conceive, but I am now very happy with my outcome. On the right pane of my blog you can see my logo, the little hybrid creature who I dubbed Aura, symbolising traits I wish to possess in my professional life. Each animal amalgamated into this creature (fox, deer, owl and rabbit) are aligned with traits that I find relevant and important to my work ethics. I hope you all like her! :)

You may have noticed that I have revamped my blog layout - I was quite tiring of my old theme and decided a fresh change of colours and imagery was required. Let me know what you think of it. Also, now that I am of a little break (and it is now half over!) I have been working on personal illustrations that I have been trying to find the time to do during the semester, but just not being able to allocate any time at all to this endeavour!
This is the Boudicca illustration that I mentioned in my earlier posts, I've only started to paint it in now. I have been working on and off on this since the beginning of this year I believe! All I want to do it to finish her, so that will be one of my aims this break.

This is an illustration focussed on the theme of winter harvesting. I started this illustration just this week and hope to also finish it before the end of the break.

Now I think I will spend the rest of this night either painting or re-watching I Capture the Castle for the millionth time! Oh Henry Cavill, you are the perfect man.

Finally I shall leave you with a song I have been repeating non-stop this week.

Hi everybody! ♡♡♡

I have not been up to much over this past week, apart from reading about moon lore and designing wherever I can. I went for a drive yesterday after not driving in 2 years (I know it's bad, but I down own a car in the city and I particularly hate driving!). It was not so bad, seeing as driving is one of my least favourite activities to do, but I didn't stall and still knew how to drive easily; I really don't think I can ever forget such as harrowing experience as learning to drive! But at least I am on my P2's and on my way to getting my full license.

I finished the illustration I had been meaning to complete weeks ago, but due to laziness, it was only finished recently! But it is done now and I feel a lot more happy for it, crossing items off lists is always a good feeling!

This is the original illustration that I created. I decided to title it "Foxy Lady", harking back to the Jimi Hendrix song and I subtitled it "Mountaineer" - relating it to themes of adventure and exploration.

I wanted to edit the image and try to explore different techniques in Photoshop to make the drawing more lively, so I added a scene of forests and snow-covered mountains as well as a moon and some stars. The whole theme and feel of the illustration was relating to winter and alpine imagery, and the fox makes me think of The Animals of Farthing Wood. which was something I used to watch as a child.

Well, I have had one last online shopping spree and purchased these items, once again from Freez:

I really loved the floral print on the shirt, it reminded me of a tropical island getaway. The necklace has the cutest image of a peace symbol created out of daisies printed on it. The kaftan style top looks really great for the rest of the summer month - I already own the same style of this with a different print and I love it, so carefree and I can be teamed with fitted pants, shorts or skirts.

Uni goes back in a few weeks time, so I will try to keep regular updates on this blog, but I'm not sure that I can promise it as I am in the final year of my degree and I really need to be focussed entirely upon my work! But if I can at least update once a week, I will feel less guilty about neglecting my blog.

That's it for now, until next time. ♥

I have been busy creating and drawing after going a while without creating anything! I have almost finished one of my works which has been in progress for almost a month now (this is what holidays do to me - make me lazy!). I am quite happy with it overall, but once it is complete I shall be more enthused.

As you can see the fox still has quite a bit of detailing to go, but once I've mapped out the appropriate areas to work on, it is much easier to accomplish.

This is also an illustration that I completed yesterday for a university publication - I drew it with felt tip markers and then edited it in photoshop; it is entitled "Daydreaming". I really love working with markers, as you can draw such nice bold thin strokes as well as thicker strokes, to give an image more depth.

Oh, I also ordered the most beautiful dress yesterday, it is such a nice soft colour and print, with lovely billowing sleeves - I just love anything with interesting textures and shapes.

Ladakh Dandelion Dress - $25.00

I also bought this lovely Indian-inspired printed kaftan by Mink Pink for $15.00.
Mink Pink Scorpio Rising Kaftan - $15.00

I am currently reading "Geisha" by Liz Dalby, it is quite interesting to see how different Japanese culture is from Australian, it almost seems like an entirely different realm from mine, but I suppose every different country we visit is like stepping through a portal into an entirely separate world.

I shall leave you now with a song. ♥
