What we see and what we seem are but a dream, a dream within a dream.

I first watched Picnic at Hanging Rock qutie some time ago and I remember finding it so haunting and eerie. Peter Weir's work on this film is fantastic, the film's soundtrack is entrancing and edgy, due to the sound of the pan-pipes. This film seemed really strange to me when I first watched it, and I didn't understand it at all. It is definitely a confusing film, but it is full of symbolism I feel. The mystery of the disappearance of the girls and where they could have vanished to was never resolved and leaves the viewer with many unanswered questions. Nevertheless, it is still a great film, I especially love the time period and the fact that it is Australian. If you haven't seen it, I would recommend checking it out. :)

I started and finished another illustration yesterday entitled Seashell (Lady of the Lake). The image I used as a reference for the mermaid was a screencap from a Russian version of the Little Mermaid tale, called Rusalochka.

I bought a pretty ruby coloured dress online from Freez again, it is by Lola vs Harper and it looks so pretty, I can't wait to try it on. :)

That's all for now, hope you all have a lovely day. ♥

Afternoon everyone!

I completed a new illustration yesterday, entitled "Cascade" as the hair represents cascading water. It is subtitled "Birds of Paradise" due to the rainbow doves. :) I used felt tips/fine liners, pencils and dried flowers to create this.

I bought some new clothing online at Ladakh (due to the crazy low prices of the sale of course!).

The bargains that can be found online are so amazing yet so addictive so after this I am calling it quits and I'll will myself not to buy any new clothing throughout the year - my small apartment space will help me to stick to this goal!

I'm still working on my other drawing (unfortunately I couldn't stick to my promise to have it finished by the end of last week) - but I am on the homestretch now and I've only got a few more things to do. I plan to start maybe one more illustration after this, and I'll also need to get back into developing my skills for uni, since this is my final year! I'm quite scared about that, I'm always afraid that I wont be good enough or it'll be so hard to get work after graduating. I hope it wont be too hard. :(

I'll leave you all with a song. I will create another post tomorrow. x

State of Love

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a merry Christmas and a happy New Years Eve! I'm very sorry for not updating my blog in what seems like forever, but I'll promise to try and blog once every week just to stay updated.

I spent my new years and Christmas at home with my family, which was good as I only come home from uni once a year, so it's good to spend some time at my home and sleeping in my old bedroom. I have been working on a drawing since I have come back home, but I have stopped because I find so many other things to do and completely forget all about it! But I will try my best to finish it, maybe by the end of this week. The weather has been so awfully hot this entire week, so I haven't felt like doing much apart from laying motionless by the air con all day, but somehow I have managed to build up the strength to keep up my exercise regime.

One film I am really excited to see this year the The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan. I also love Baz Lurhmann's work, especially the Romeo + Juliet film which is one of my favourite movies ever. I hope it will be really good; I don't understand why people say how Leo has become "ugly" with age and he was so much more attractive during the 90's. Given he was very attractive then, I think he is still darn good looking now!

I have done a bit of online shopping and have bought these items:
Ladakh Mississippi Queen Dress, $29.00

Ladakh Russian Doll Blouse, $10.00

Minkpink Marianne Top, $25.00

Finders Keepers State of Love shorts, $25.00

Minkpink Sister of the Moon dress, $29.00

August Street Brohelm bodysuit, $15.00

All in all a good shopping experience for christmas!

I went op-shopping with my mum recently and she found this One Teaspoon Almost Famous Pixie dress, with all tags still attached and happened to be my size! I thought that was lucky. :)

I'll leave you all now with some images that have inspired me recently.

I really love this Minkpink "Sister of the Moon" dress! I think it might be due to those lovely flowing chiffon sleeves but I also like the name, I prefer the moon to the sun. :)

These designs by Celene Elizabeth Bridge are so amazing. I really adore the blue bird headpiece and all the floaty chiffon fabrics, just lovely.

I've been really loving the amount of 90's style daisy print clothing I've been seeing around lately. It's so reminiscent of the 90's and brings back memories of the dresses I used to wear as a child.
