Ineffable Lucite

Hi all! ♡

Basically I have been reading a lot and staying indoors as much as possible this week (except to go for a run and other essential errands), because the weather here has been sososo incredibly HOT, I can barely move. It is quite stifling heat, 43 degree Celsius days filled with nothing by catching up on reading, watching films and documentaries and fixing up things that needed to be fixed. Hot weather is never kind to me, especially my skin, which glows in the sun it is that pale! Which is why I burn so easily, thus rendering me a captive to my own home. :( I'm still looking at the class enrollments for uni when I start, trying to organise my semesters so that I can get the best classes together and try not to create huge stresses, because studying full-time is always really intensive and I find myself on edge constantly, but if I try to organised moments for meditation and yoga, I think I'll clear out my mind and get through the year well enough!

I have been in love with trying out different perfumes for a while now and although I do not have an extensive cabinet filled to the brim with perfumes, I have four basic ones which carry me through all the different events and moods that occur in my life. They are:

Lola by Marc Jacobs

Sunflower by Elizabeth Arden

Into the Wild by Sportsgirl

Princess by Vera Wang

I love them all equally, each has a certain quality to it which is either appropriate for night or day, and seasonal differences. I really love Princess, it is floral-y but also vanilla-y, like a pretty pink flower cake. Sunflower makes me exceedingly happy whenever I smell it, so it is my current daily go-to scent.

But while I love the scents, I love the bottles they are contained in even more. I'm always more inclined to buy a perfume if it is beautifully packaged, even if the scent does not sit well on my skin.

Here are a few snapshots of things that have related to my life at this present moment. (From L-R, top to bottom):
1. So good, so cheap. $2.95 @ Sportsgirl for this lovely musky scent.
2. Reading the latest Frankie magazine, with my new clip-on earrings, hearts by Avon and some silver classic swirls.
3. My new Minkpink dress arrived! SO PERFECT. I am ecstatic for graduation.
4. New shoes by Peeptoe to go with my dress for graduation.
5. Fresh pomegranate seeds, like little ruby jewels.
6. Making a card for my dad's birthday.

Salut! ♡

I have been oh so busy these holidays drawing, reading, exercising and generally taking a break from the stresses of life. Christmas was a lovely time to spend with the family and eat, drink and be merry! ☯ I was accepted to start my Masters degree next year so that's what I plan to do at this present stage, I'm nervous but also excited as I really want to do postgraduate studies and this degree will definitely be of benefit to my future career.

The 70's is the style era which I am presently most drawn to at the moment. Think plenty of paisley prints, flares, bell-sleeves, long free flowing hair, flower crowns, batik prints, soft focus photography, floppy hats and plenty of daisies. The 1970's was a great time for fashion! The hippy look was still present and disco fever was taking over and then entered the glam rock scene of the late 70's. I loved the hippie movement and wish I could have been present at Woodstock, it would have been an amazing experience.

Here are a few snapshots of things that have related to my life at this present moment. (From L-R, top to bottom):
1. The setting of the sun and the moon rising created such a lovely colour palette in the sky, plus the moon was covered in a thin veil of clouds, which was extra pretty.
2. One of my presents from Christmas - Lola by Marc Jacobs which is quickly becoming one of my favourite scents - and who can resist that bottle?!
3. My new glittery suede shoes which were also a Christmas gift. They're so high (14cm), which is good for me as I am 5"3 and can do with a boost in height!.
4. This is quite a bit too tiny, but it is the beginnings of a mini portrait I'm creating of Lana Del Rey, undoubtedly one of my favourite people right now.
5. I am now up to date with my Sims 3 expansion pack collection with the addition of this little baby, Seasons. I can't help but love the Sims, I have basically been with them since the beginning. ♡
6. Clueless. That is all I need to say.

Goodbye until the next post!

A Whiter Shade of Pale

Hello lovelies! ♡♡♡

I somehow managed to finish my intensive uni course, now I will just be waiting on the results. But it was really difficult, I had to basically make and finish everything in the night before the project was actually due. I was up until around 3.20am and my mum thought I was mental, but as I try to tell myself, you must suffer for your art! I have had one week to recover and spend time with my family, so I would take a break from reality and the internet and get back into fresh air and natural surroundings. I also took it as time to reflect and mourn on the loss of my beloved pet dog, who sadly passed away - it shocked me and I think I will continue to carry a heaviness within myself for a while, but time will heal all wounds.

R.I.P my love.

While it's been freezing cold over here at the moment, I am cheering myself up with beautiful spring shades - I love all pastel colours and I can't wait until spring to start wearing more light and airy clothing, like chiffon shirts and skater skirts, without requiring a woollen jumper over the top to give me warmth! Both Chanel and Tsumori Chisato have been inspiring me lately with these collections, filled with sugary sweet clothing. The first four images are items of clothing living inside my wardrobe.

Found this dress whilst thrifting, it is an old school Katie's piece; I just really love the lilac colour and the destroyed, kinderwhore-esque hemline. It adds character.

This was also found thrifting - I just couldn't go past the marshmallow pink colour. It is such a cute little sweater for transeasonal weather.

This was from Dotti during a sale - it has lace and also velvet, so it is a winner in my books.

This was a thrifted item, how cute is it?!? I call it my marshmallow top as it is so frilly and pink! Its really lovely and light, a quirky twist on the gypsy/peasant style tops.

I found these amazing shoes online and was debating about their wearability for the longest time, but after showing others the shoes I decided that they would be a lovely addition to my little wardrobe. They were already on sale and I also had a coupon to use at the checkout, so they were further reduced, which is always nice. :) They did not look so glittery on the website but in real life...wow. They are simply pure beauty. Under down lights they sparkle so intensely I am sure that I will blind people if they get too close to them! They give me nostalgia for the glitter jelly shoes I owned when I was young, except with ten times the sparkle factor. They give a new meaning to the term twinkle toes!

Also, if someone would like to buy me these Ellery x Graz Quixote sunglasses for my 21st I would be eternally grateful! :)

This song is currently on repeat in my playlist :3

That's all for now!

Hi lovelies,

I am incredibly sorry for not updating my blog in almost two weeks now! It is unacceptable, but I will try to make up for it now. :) University has been taking up all of my free time recently, I had my first assignment submission yesterday so was I completely stressed out about that. We had to design a storyboard for either an interactive portfolio or a three minute animation on a social issue, so I went with the animation. Flash is something I find difficult to use, so I decided to take on this class in order to better myself at it. My social issue is based on deforestation and loss of habitat for wildlife. It's an issue that I find quite important.

A scene from my storyboard

Here are my recent purchases, three pairs of shoes for $19.95 each from Dotti, so I really could go past it. I really love the black velvet t-bar heels, they are so comfortable and feel so soft and lovely! They make me ten times taller than I am (I am pretty short, so I kind of need the height boost)!

I am absolutely in love with designer Ulyana Sergeenko's Autumn/Winter 2012 collection at the moment. All the fabrics and colour combinations are so inspiring to me, it just makes me want to paint something!

That's all for now, I may post again during this week depending on what goes on and how much time I have free. :)
